Chapter One: God is love.
Civilizations form, progress and decline. New ones start, and old ones rebuild or disappear. Man develops through all these times. Some civilizations would appear to offer more opportunities than others. Increased technical invention improves material development, but, as only the world of spirit is immortal, true growth is spiritual not material.
The evolutionary endgame of the soul to the perfected qualities of the divine spirit within each man is the purpose of life. Some ages enable the soul to develop considerably more than others. There were many opportunities for spiritual development in the so-called ‘Dark Ages’ which were only dark in a material sense. History is written in hindsight and from the mindsets of individual and collective historians. Ages alternate. One fosters material growth and the next, spiritual growth. The soul must learn to take advantage of its opportunities and to evolve through both materialistic and psychical ages.
Man has now entered the Aquarian Age. Children born in this new age, especially as it really gets under way, will be different, more sensitive, more highly strung and possess natural, psychic faculties. Their emotions and desires will be of a different nature as far as material things are concerned. These children will care little for earlier traditions, forms, dogmas, creeds, and lifestyles and will set new standards because they will understand the real truths of the world.
The Aquarian Age steps up the tempo and raises the vibrations of the earth. Some of the chaos and destruction of today can be seen as the birth pangs of this new age which will present new and wonderful opportunities for the progression of each soul. The new age is anti-organizational in general, rather than anti-God or anti-Deity. One needs to raise his vibration to conform and synchronize with the new rate by developing the following characteristics of ‘soul consciousness’ and do his best to eliminate ‘animal’ qualities:
God Qualities of Soul Consciousness Animal or Body Qualities
Love Anger
Simplicity Jealousy
Sympathy Hatred
Faith Revenge
Trust Selfishness
Humility Greed
Tolerance Intolerance
Courage Lust
Patience Vindictiveness
Tenacity Fear
Brotherhood Loneliness
Prayer is a sincere desire from the soul to contact God or the infinite intelligence. The student’s goal is to develop constructive, controlled thinking, to direct it into positive and progressive channels, and to eliminate negative patterns from his behaviour. His life becomes his prayer.
Meditating is putting on armor for the day. Spiritual thoughts are crystallized into our auras which encourage positive growth. An aura is the manifestation of the vibratory rate of the presumed electrostatic or magnetic field where you have your being. It is the area where the extended consciousness moves and lives. Exercise of ability becomes talent and progressively substantiates into the aura.
When one looks around and feels as if life or God has dealt him a bad hand, he needs to remind himself of the purpose of his earthly life. We are here to experience all parts of life. We have the opportunity to feel supreme joy by choosing to act and think lovingly instead of cruelly. Man is the only creature who has this choice. Lower forms of life are governed by evolution whose purpose is to reproduce. They can appear cruel in their pursuit of survival and reproduction. As we have evolved from lower creatures, we still possess a nature that can be cruel. Man discovers his soul when he sees that the greatest joy is to model himself after God and to choose love over cruelty.
The suffering and evil in the world is not of God’s making. Man is the evil doer. Although patterns change slowly, the way to revolutionize our world is with spiritual behaviour, not with tribal or religious actions that many espouse as being prescribed by God. True spirituality is based on simple laws that, without exception, originate from the principle that man’s evolution depends on his benign interaction with others. Our meditations are interdenominational and international. Practicing them faithfully encourages a sense of well being.
Several impressions received while meditating on God is love:
The colour and beauty of a cactus rose are more touching because the rose is in contrast to its stark environment. Similarly expressions of God’s love are more poignant against a backdrop of the cruelty man does to others, to animals and to the earth itself. When one performs an act of kindness, he is in tune with himself and manifests his own God-qualities. As God is love, man becomes God-like when he acts lovingly. ‘Is’ is a verb of the present tense and at the moment of a loving action, thought or feeling, one connects to the cosmic soul and experiences omnipotence.
When we look for God-qualities within others, we see past the personalities that individuals acquire by wrong thoughts and actions. When we see through their camouflage, it is easier to act lovingly toward them. Seeing God’s love within others strips them of evil.
The simple sentence ‘God is love’ hangs vertically, twists and forms a double helix. ‘God is love’ is the DNA of the soul. The helix-shaped sentence joins into a circle, forming an eternity ring. Life is eternal through love.
